The iPad is a line of tablet computers designed, developed and marketed by Apple Inc., primarily as a platform for audio-visual media including books, periodicals, movies, music, games, and web content. This version of the iPad connects to the internet with a wifi connection as well as a 3G connection with an added service subscription from either Verizon or Sprint in the US. This iPad features a 9.7-inch (1024x768, 132 ppi) multitouch "glossy" LED-backlit IPS display and runs a version of iOS which is the same operating system that powers the iPhone and iPod touch models. All versions are powered by a 1 GHz Apple A5 processor with 802.11a/b/g/n Wi-Fi support, an accelerometer, ambient light sensor, digital compass, dual mono speakers and a built-in microphone. All of this power is packed into a 0.34 inch thick, 1.33 pound glass and aluminum case with a black or white front and an aluminum back and connects to a MAc or PC through iTunes.
