On September 9, 2009 the iPod touch 3G (MC008LL/A) was released and marketed with an emphasis on gaming. They come in 8GB, 32GB, and 64GB configurations with 256MB RAM. The 8GB configuration is basically the same as the 8GB touch 2G with a cheaper price tag. The 32GB and 64GB configurations use the upgraded 800MHz processor used in the iPhone 3GS. The 32GB and 64GB also have an accelerometer, ambient light sensor, and support for 802.11b/g/n wi-fi. These two higher end models have “VoiceOver” enabling the user to navigate the phone and iPod features with their voice. “Genius Mixes” are available on all models. The Lithium Ion battery provides an estimated 30 hours music playback and 6 hours video playback.
