Compared to the PowerBook G4/400 (Titanium), the PowerBook G4/550 (Gigabit) has a faster processor, an on chip level 2 cache, improved graphics, and a new lightweight power adapter.

Compared to the PowerBook G4/550 (Gigabit), the PowerBook G4/667 (DVI) has a faster processor with level 3 cache, improved graphics and a higher resolution display. They also swap the VGA port for a DVI port, add an analog audio in port, and drop the IrDA capabilities.

Powerbook G4 800 (DVI – Ti)

The PowerBook G4/800 DVI (M8592LL/A) features an 800 MHz G4 processor with 256k on chip level 2 cache and 1.0 MB level 3 cache. The casing features a fiber optic based ambient light sensor that automatically measures the ambient light that adjusts keyboard illumination and screen brightness based upon user preferences. This was also the first Mac to include a Firewire 800 port.

12" Powerbook G4 DVI 1.0GHz (AI)

The 12” Powerbook G4 (M9007LL/A) features a 1.0GHz PowerPC G4 processor with 512k on chip level 2 cache and 256MB of PC2100 DDR SDRAM. A sleek aluminum alloy case housed the 12.1" TFT XGA display (1024x768 native resolution), 40 GB (4200RPM) Ultra ATA/100 hard drive, and the choice of a slot-loading 8X "Combo" drive (M9007LL/A) or 2X "SuperDrive" (M9008LL/A). Bluetooth 1.1 comes standard and AirPort Extreme is available with an optional upgrade).

Graphics processor is a NVIDIA GeForce FX Go5200 (4X AGP) graphics with 32 MB of DDR SDRAM. Compared to the PowerBook G4/867 12" (M8760LL/A) that it replaced, the PowerBook G4/1.0 12" (DVI) is quite similar, but has a faster processor with twice the amount of on chip level 2 cache, twice the amount of onboard RAM, and improved graphics. Additionally, as the name implies, it swaps out the Mini-VGA port for a Mini-DVI port as well as USB 1.1 for USB 2.0 ports.

15" Powerbook G4 1.0GHz (FW800 – AI)
